Pastor Matt

Senior Pastor
My name is Matthew VanderVen and I am the Senior and Preaching Pastor at Calvary Chapel Harrisburg-West Shore. My Responsibilities are to love, nourish, and care for the flock and to teach the Word of God, line by line, verse by verse, and precept by precept. I love serving at Calvary Chapel because observing all that the Lord is accomplishing through His ministries, His church, and in the hearts of people, both young and old, has been the greatest pleasure of my life. My heart’s desire is for the flock to be the best fed and loved. There are so many who need Jesus right now, especially in the present age we are living. It is important as always to be faithful to equip saints for the work of the ministry and to encourage the weary and brokenhearted. It is God’s church, and He is to be worshiped and praised. We will experience the wonderful blessings and purpose the Lord has for us if we chose to step out in obedience and faith, experiencing the fullness of God.

Pastor Aaron

My name is Aaron Wilson. Sometime in 2016, I heard on Hope FM that there was a Calvary fellowship meeting near my skate/snowboard shop at the time. I closed my doors early just to check it out. Ever since then, I’ve been blessed to sit under the word of God at Calvary Chapel Harrisburg-West Shore. Right away, I knew I was home and was excited to "Abide" with my brothers and sisters in the Lord. It was here that my life chapter became John 15. I have been blessed to serve in so many ministries over the years. God has blessed me with the ministry of Assistant Pastor at Calvary Chapel where I also get to serve as Children's Ministry Director and Facilities Manager.  We love equipping the saints, edifying the body of Christ, and growing together in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus.

My name is Jennifer McEvers, and I work in Administration and oversee the church and
school office duties. Serving at the church has been the greatest blessing. Observing the growth of the church, the fellowship in Christ, and the love among the people has been an incredible experience. It beautifully testifies to the Lord's work as He continues to move through our church family and ministries. Everyone is called to serve God in various ways. He has a specific purpose and plan for each of us. Out of faith and obedience, we should respond to His calling to advance
His kingdom and glory.

Walking beside them, praying with and for them, and sharing the truth of God’s Word has grown our hearts together. It is beautiful to watch and experience what the Word of God does when it touches people’s lives. The heart behind the café is to encourage Christ centered fellowship over a hand-crafted drink. It has been a wonderful privilege serving alongside the baristas to bless the fellowship while being blessed. Our café baristas are eager to serve and get to know you! Come by before or after service to see us and let us know how we can serve or pray for you!

I also have the privilege of serving on the Worship Team and at the Calvary Cafe when I am home from college. Being a part of this church has changed my life, and I am grateful that God brought my family here to sit under the Word every Sunday and Wednesday. Andrea Johnson

Worship Team Leader
My name is Andrea Johnson and I serve as worship team leader. It is such a blessing to serve with worshippers who prefer one another in love and humility, who work hard all week to prepare for services and special events, and who are united in purpose to lead the church joyfully in giving honor and glory to the Lord. We desire that our worship be Spirit led and in line with the Word that goes forth in our weekly services.

Psalms 95:6-7
“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand.”

Crystal Barna

Cleaning Ministry
My name is Crystal Barna, and I serve as the Cleaning Ministry Leader. My responsibilities are to ensure that all areas of the church are cleaned and well-maintained. I wouldn’t have imagined I would be serving at the church, let alone leading a ministry. But God knew. He knew I would be saved in this church and baptized in this church. He knew I was made for such a time as this. There are a few reasons why I love serving at the church. The main reason is my love for the Lord and my desire to be more like him. One way to be more like Jesus is to be an example of what He can do in someone’s life—-just like he did in my life!
-
Philippians 2:5-7
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bond servant, and coming in the likeness of men.”

Caleb Bartlett

Elder
Men's Grace & Restoration Ministry
My name is Caleb Bartlett and I am currently serving as an Elder here at Calvary Chapel Harrisburg West Shore.
I also have the privilege of leading the Men’s Grace and Restoration Ministry which provides an environment where men are challenged, encouraged, and set free from struggles or sins by the power of the Spirit. The Gospel is not only sufficient to save lives but to transform them. One of my passions is to meet with others one-on-one and encourage them in their pursuit of Christ. Our God is a very personal God and as He saves each individual, He also bestows gifts and prepares good works for each one. In Christ we are all one, and each member of the body is highly valued by the Father with no partiality. Helping others find their deepest satisfaction in Christ is my greatest joy.
 -
Psalm 73:25-26
“Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

Abigail Bartlett

Women's Grace & Restoration Ministry
Hello! I’m Abigail Bartlett and I have the blessing of serving as leader of the Women’s Grace and Restoration Ministry. My husband, Caleb, and I wholly place our trust in the free and unmerited gift of salvation from sin and death by faith in Jesus Christ alone, through God’s grace alone. It is that same grace of God that powerfully and mightily heals our wounds, breaks strongholds, and continually sanctifies us. During the darkest periods of my life and in the midst of my own folly, it was God’s grace and love alone that pulled me out of the darkness and into the light.
The Women’s Grace and Restoration group is a place where women wrestling with mental and emotional distress, sin, addiction, or grief can safely share their struggles and experience the love of God through His Word and through the support of fellow sisters in Christ. We bear each other’s burdens, pray for one another, hold each other accountable, and study God’s Word together. God has used this group to grow me closer to Him and I have been unbelievably blessed by every single person who is a part of this ministry.

Paul Kraft

Men's Grace & Restoration Ministry
Hello, my name is Paul Kraft and I have the great privilege of assisting my brother, Caleb Bartlett, with the Men’s Grace and Restoration Ministry. From the moment the Lord placed this ministry on Caleb’s heart, I knew I was called to be a part of it. Far too many men and women today suffer in silence, burdened by secret addictions and mental health struggles. They often walk alone, isolated and without hope. This ministry exists to break that silence and expose the darkness to the light of Jesus Christ. We believe true healing and restoration begin when men and women gather in truth, humility, and faith — centered on God’s Word and empowered by His Spirit. The format of the Grace and Restoration groups is simple and Spirit-led: We study the Holy Scriptures together, we share our struggles openly and honestly, we hold one another accountable, and most importantly, we pray for one another. This group’s structure is rooted in two foundational Scriptures:
-
2 Timothy 3:16–17
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

James 5:16
“Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

Adriane Kidwell

Crochet Ministry
My name is Adriane Kidwell and I've been given the chance by the Lord to serve and lead others in the crochet ministry. By God's grace I am able to share a Bible passage in the beginning of our meetings and teach others how to crochet different projects for donations that contain Scripture tags for God's Word to go forth. I love serving others in the church through this ministry, God gives us the opportunity to serve in various ways. The projects have the opportunity to be used for different purposes such as; celebrating with those who rejoice, comforting those who mourn or supplying a need. It is a blessing to pray for the one receiving the crochet project while making them, we may never know how God will use it but can take heart the Lord’s Word doesn't return void. God's Word will go forth for His glory and His purposes. We get the opportunity behind the scenes to point people to Jesus.
-
Isaiah 55:11
“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

Tyler Zito

College & Career Ministry
My name is Tyler Zito, and I lead Friday Night Bible Study for the College and Career Ministry. This includes helping to create a space for fellowship as well as providing biblically sound teaching during Bible Study. I love God and I love His people. We're instructed to go and make disciples of all people groups, and to remain busy about our Father's business until Jesus returns. I just want to serve as I am able, wherever He calls me, for His purposes and glory.
-
1 Timothy 6:12
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”

Terry Magee

Fifty Plus Ministry
My name is Terry Magee. I and my wife Kim lead the Fifty Plus ministry at Calvary Chapel. In addition to leading a monthly Bible study, we are working to build a community of those fifty years old and over where we study together, serve together, and fellowship together. I love serving in this ministry because our goal is to support everyone in our community in growing in Christ so they are finishing well.
-
Galatians 2:20
"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me."
